If you’re looking for something new to try, activities for your kids, sports programs and just general recreation, look no further than our own Recreation Centers. Between the City of Henderson and Clark County Rec centers, you’ve got 20+ centers to choose activities from. The list of classes offered varies greatly for each center and the costs for activities are very affordable.
I live the closest to the Henderson Multigenerational Center and have taken a number of classes there with my toddler. We’ve done Swimming Lessons, Messy Art Classes, Song and Dance for Toddlers, and Gymnastics as well as an adult cooking class and have enjoyed them all. Check each link for hours, facilities list, and any special events happening at the facility. Here are some of the more common classes and pricing for examples. These prices are typically for a 6-week session.
- Gymnastics and Tumbling: 5 different age groups starting at 1 year, prices begin at $22.50.
- Messy Days: starting at 1.5 years, a different messy art project every week. $32.50 (Some classes also require a one time instructor/supply fee)
- ABC:123, Pre-K: 2 days/week, $61.88.
- Body Barre: $17-$21 for one month, once a week.
- Group and Private Voice, Piano, Guitar lessons: $51-$84.
Participant ID cards give you access to all of the open recreation programs and use of select sporting equipment at our facilities. This card enables you to sign up for classes, use the fitness rooms and enjoy our other amenities too. The cost for a new card or renewal is $25 for adults, $5 for youth and teens, and free for seniors (age 60+) and veterans. Some classes, programs, and fitness centers have additional costs to participate, please ask at the front desk for more details.
Membership packages are offered and can be used at any of the facilities below. A Platinum package gets you into all fitness centers and pools(during open swim), racquetball court access and guest passes, starting at $38/mo for adults and $30/mo for teens/youth. Family memberships are also available. There’s a multi-fitness center membership, a Racquetball court membership and an Aquatic membership for pool access during open swim year round.
Rec center pools– The Whitney Ranch Indoor Pool, Henderson Multigenerational Indoor Pool, Henderson Multigenerational Competition Pool (outdoor, heated) and Heritage Park Aquatic Complex are open year round. The entry fee for Henderson residents is $5 for adults and $3 for youth. There are open swim hours throughout the day, please check the schedule. Seasonal pools include the BMI Outdoor Pool and Wells Pool which cost $3 for adults and $2 for youth, Henderson residents. Other seasonal pools include the Black Mountain Aquatic Complex, the Henderson Multigenerational Activity Pool, Whitney Ranch Activity Pool, and Silver Springs Outdoor Pool and cost $3 for adults and $2 for youth for Henderson residents.
City of Henderson Recreation Centers:
If you live in Henderson, you should receive the Henderson Happenings magazine each season in the mail with all classes and events for all of the centers below. If your address is Las Vegas, you can stop in any of these centers and pick up the Happenings, or check it out online at the link.
Black Mountain Rec Center & Aquatic Complex– Located off the 215 and Horizon Dr., this rec center offers a fitness center and gymnasium, tennis courts, an indoor cycling area and an outdoor, seasonal aquatic complex complete with a three loop slide and waterfall.
Downtown Rec Center– Located just down the street from Henderson City Hall, this center features and indoor walking track, gym, fitness center with showers, and a seasonal swimming pool.
Downtown Senior Center– Located in the historic Water Street District, they offer a specific schedule of classes and programs designed for seniors. Here is a list of ongoing activities at the center including, knitting, bridge, line dancing, bingo and art studio. Check all days and times and register at the front desk as some activities may require payment.
Henderson Multigenerational Center– Despite it’s odd name, most people know this as ‘the Multi-gen’. Located at Paseo Parkway and Green Valley Pkwy, this is an 84,000+ sq.ft. state-of-the-art facility featuring a rock climbing wall, indoor track, teaching kitchen, indoor and outdoor competition length pools as well as a seasonal recreational pool and slide for the whole family to enjoy. This is easily one of the best Rec centers in the valley, they host many special events, and the list of classes for all ages goes on and on.
Heritage Park Senior Facility– Heritage Park offers a wide variety of programming, ranging from art and cooking classes to exercise and dance programs, and features a TV room and an outdoor Bocce court. They also offer social and wellness services such as Meals on Wheels, to meet the needs of our active 50+ population. It is located at Racetrack Rd. and Burkholder Blvd. and is adjacent to the Heritage Park Aquatic Complex.
Silver Springs Rec Center– Located at Valle Verde Dr and Green Valley Parkway, and adjacent to Silver Springs Park, this center offers a wide variety of recreation including gymnasium, game room, kids corner, tennis courts and a seasonal swimming pool. Highlights here are the high quality early childhood program and the outdoor pool for the family to enjoy in the summer months.
Valley View Rec Center– The center offers a variety of low- and no-cost programs ranging from parenting to health care, and is also home to a state-licensed preschool program, which serves 260 children during the school year. They also offer state-licensed camps during winter breaks. It is located on Harris Street at Basic Road.
Whitney Ranch Rec Center– Located on Galleria Drive, off Russell Road, this center offers lots of special events, a wide array of programs and classes and also has a state-of-the-art aquatic complex with indoor and outdoor pools.
