Wetlands Park Events: A Peek at the Park

If you haven’t visited Clark County Wetlands Park before, you’re really missing out!   Here’s your chance to learn about the Park from someone who was there from its earliest beginnings.

Wetlands Park Friends is proud to present: “An Afternoon with Friends: A Peek at the Park,” October 22^nd from 1:00-2:30 PM in the Park Nature Center Meeting Room.  The lecture is free and open to Friends members, Park volunteers, and the public.

Special guest speaker Chris Leavitt will provide an insider’s view of what it took to create the 2,900-acre, managed wild area and its many unique features. Ms. Leavitt has been associated with the Park from its earliest days.  She currently serves as President of Wetlands Park Friends, the all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to help preserve and support the Park.  The lecture will be followed by refreshments and conversation.

At 2,900 acres, Clark County Wetlands Park is one of the largest urban wetlands in the Southwest and serves as a popular destination for hikers and bird watchers. More than 300 species of birds and 70 species of mammals and reptiles have been spotted in the park, including beavers, coyotes, bobcats, and snakes. Entry to the park is free and features more than 20 miles of trails, including six miles within the Nature Preserve. 

Nature Center, including Exhibit Gallery, Nature Store and Administration is open Tuesday through Sunday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  Outdoor hours in the Park are dawn to dusk. It is recommended that visitors wear sunscreen, hats with a wide brim, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and bring plenty of water when walking the trails. 

The Clark County Wetlands Park is located at 7050 Wetlands Park Lane, Las Vegas.

Advance Tickets Fee: $5 for ages 4 to Adult. 
Day of Tickets: $7 for ages 4 to Adult.  
Tickets required for kids & adults. Ages 0-3 free.

You can find all the Interpretive Program events held at the Wetlands Park here.  They offer plenty of fun, from guided walks, to art, to kids storytime.
