Make a trip to Whiskey Pete’s
See the authentic bullet-riddled Ford V-8 that the infamous duo Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were in when police gunned them down in Louisiana in 1934. In early 1934 Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow stole a V8 Ford and drove it around the Midwest, robbing and killing people.
That joyride ended when lawmen punctured the car (and Bonnie and Clyde) with over 100 armor-piercing bullets. The car is on display 24 hours a day for free and located near the casino floor in Primm Valley Resort & Casino.
Head to the Old West at the Pioneer Saloon
Visit the oldest bar in the Las Vegas area. There are said to be several ghosts that haunt the 100 year old Saloon and Gallery. The Pioneer houses bullet holes in the side of the building and a coroner’s letter describing how they were created.
The old saloon is said to be haunted by the gun shot victim’s ghost, as well as the spirit of an old miner. Ghostly images have been seen by many employees and saloon visitors over the years.
This bar is more famously known as the bar where Clark Gable waited. It’s said that in 1942, Clark Gable spent three days there awaiting news of his wife, Carole Lombard, whose plane had disappeared while returning to Los Angeles.
The plane eventually was discovered crashed on nearby Mount Potosi, there were no survivors, and the bar bears what reportedly are burns from Gable’s cigar as he dozed during his wait to hear about news of his wife.
We drive our side-by-side out to this bar (which is common) and it is really an experience, plus the food is delicious.
Visit a nearby ghost town
Once a bustling mining town, Rhyolite Ghost Town is now one of Nevada’s biggest ghost towns. Wander around and you’ll see the scattered remains of a bank, jail, and train depot. The landscape looks more like a nuclear war zone than a ghost town—but just as sinister—and perhaps still home to the spirits who once lived there many years ago. Located just outside of Death Valley National Park.
The Corner of Flamingo and Koval
Tupac Shakur’s death is one of the most notorious murders in Las Vegas history. While riding in a car driven by music mogul Suge Knight on September 7, 1996, they stopped at a red light at Flamingo and Koval.
Gunfire erupted from a nearby car and Shakur was hit four times. He died six days later in the hospital on Friday the 13th of September 1996. Some believe Shakur’s ghost haunts the intersection with sightings of a person in a bandana resembling the late rapper.
There are lots of entertaining and haunting things to do in and around our historic city. Try your luck this Friday the 13th and see where your luck lands you.
