Every child wants to know where Santa is. These days, there are a number of options to track Santa on his flight this Christmas Eve and Christmas morning!
Track Santa with NORAD
Every day of the year, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) defends North America by tracking everything that flies in and around Canada and the United States. On Christmas Eve each year, NORAD adds a special mission: tracking Santa.
In 1955, a young child trying to reach Santa dialed the misprinted phone number from a department store ad in the local newspaper. Instead of calling Santa, the child called the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Commander on duty that night who answered the child’s phone call, was quick to realize a mistake had been made and assured the child he was Santa. After more incoming calls, a tradition was born, that continued when NORAD was formed in 1958.
They won’t say how they track Santa, but the same technology that is there to warn us of missiles or incursions by land or sea — that’s the technology tracking Santa. Those technologies are fail-safe so you know they’ve got Santa on their radar.
In addition to the phone line and website, children and the young-at-heart can track Santa through mobile apps and social media platforms:

Track Santa with Alexa
Do you want to know where Santa is right now? Then this skill is for you! He might be fixing his sleigh, feeding the reindeer, or updating his list of who is naughty or nice!
Starting on Christmas Eve, you can find out where Santa is now, and when Santa will arrive at your house or other locations. Other ways you can ask…“Alexa, ask Santa Tracker where Santa is.” “Alexa, ask Santa Tracker when will Santa be in .(insert city name), and “Alexa, ask Santa Tracker when Santa will be here?”
For Google Home, you just need to ask, “Hey Google, where’s Santa?” to get Santa Tracker updates.
Install the Alexa app, Santa Tracker app, or Google Home app on your phone to check his status in case you aren’t home for the day.
However you track Santa, be sure the kids know that Santa won’t make his stop if they aren’t in bed and sleeping.
