Girl Scout Cookie season begins this week, and with the MLB baseball season on the horizon, the two make a great pair.
Las Vegas baseball fans will have a chance to watch Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant take part in batting practice, all to benefit local girl scouts. Bryant, a valley native and the 2016 National League MVP, will join several big-league pitchers and hitters at Las Vegas Ballpark on Thursday, Feb. 6th.
Girl Scouts from local troops will also be there to promote the start of their delicious cookie selling season during the event. The event is free and open to the public. Gates will open at 9 a.m., and practice starts at 9:30 a.m.
Sounds like a win, win to me. Watch some major leaguers show off some skills and buy your Girl Scout cookies all in the same place.
Joining Cubs star Kris Bryant will be Amir Garrett, pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds who went to Sierra Vista High School.
Participating hitters include: Joey Rickard, San Francisco Giants; Drew Robinson, San Francisco Giants; Chris Carter, Monclova (Mexican Professional League); and free agents Cody Clark, Johnny Field and Jake Hager
Participating pitchers include: Paul Sewald, New York Mets; Jake Faria, Milwaukee Brewers; Chasen Shreve, New York Mets; Taylor Cole, Los Angeles Angels; Ricky Knapp, Los Angeles Dodgers; and free agents Sam Pastrone and JD Martin.
The Las Vegas Aviators season doesn’t officially begin until April 9th, but MLB fans (and cookie fanatics) shouldn’t miss out on this FREE event. Here are some other great things happening in Downtown Summerlin.
