Tax day freebies and deals 2023

Put down the calculator and pencil! Whether you’re getting a refund or paying taxes, getting your taxes completed on time can be stressful. Getting all the paperwork in order, reading all the tax codes and crunching the numbers is…well, very taxing. 

To help take some of the sting out of tax day, many restaurants and other businesses are offering Tax Day discounts and freebies. Some of the deals are only valid on April 18; others are good before and after.  And, in case you didn’t know, actual tax day is Tuesday, April 18, 2023.  

Here are the deals that are being offered for Tax Day 2023:

AMC Theaters: Relax at the movies on Tax Day! AMC Theatres offers Discount Tuesdays every week. Movie fans enjoy discounted tickets (price varies by location) and a $5 concessions special (small drink and small popcorn) every Tuesday. The offers are only available to AMC Stubs members. 

In addition, AMC Theatres offers a $5 Fan Faves series. Fans can enjoy classics or recent hits back on the big screen for just $5. 

Applebee’s:  Get your taxes done and relax by enjoying one of Applebee’s $6 Springtime Sips — Tipsy Shark and Strawberry Daq-A-Rita. The drinks are available for a limited time. 

Combine the drink special with the restaurant’s popular 2 For $24 meal deal for bigger savings. Get one appetizer and two entrées from a select menu for 24 bucks. 

If you’re getting a refund, buy a $50 Applebee’s gift card and enjoy a $10 bonus card. The gift card bonus is available from April 10 to June 25. (The bonus card expires Aug. 6.) 

Brio Italian Grille: After filing your taxes, enjoy a delicious Italian feast! On April 18, Brio Italian Grille is offering an 18% discount on final checks for dine-in and to-go orders — use promo code TAXDAY2023. Alcohol is excluded from the offer. There are 33 locations in the U.S.

Bucca di Beppo: After filing your taxes, enjoy a delicious Italian feast! On April 18, Buca di Beppo is offering an 18% discount on final checks for dine-in and to-go orders — use promo code TAXDAY2023. Alcohol is excluded from the offer.

The Cheesecake Factory: Say cheese! You may or may not be smiling on Tax Day. Either way, you can sweeten the day at The Cheesecake Factory. Save $10.40 on an order of $50 or more — use promo code TAXDAY1040 at checkout. The offer is only valid for online orders placed directly on the restaurant’s website or DoorDash for pick-up or delivery. The offer is available April 17 to 21.

Chili’s: Sip on this offer all month long in April at Chili’s, including Tax Day. Enjoy the restaurant’s monthly margarita for April, the Patrón ‘Rita. Also, check out the chain’s daily happy hour specials for Tuesdays. 

Combine the drink specials with Chili’s popular 3 For Me deal. Enjoy a beverage, appetizer and entrée, all starting at $10.99. The meal deal is available every day.

Del Taco:  Make Tax Day all about tacos! Del Taco offers a weekly Taco Tuesday special — enjoy three Snack Tacos for just $1.69. With no limit, celebrate getting your taxes done with a frugal fiesta for the family. 

Firehouse Subs: Get fired up for savings on Tax Day! Last year, Firehouse Subs celebrated the end of tax season by offering customers a complimentary sub with purchase. However, no offer has been announced yet for 2023. Keep checking back for any update. 

Great American Cookies: Paying taxes or getting a refund, everyone will like the way this cookie crumbles on Tax Day. On April 18, Great American Cookies is giving customers a sweet deal — buy-one-get-one FREE Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake Slice. The deal is valid in-shop only

Hooters:  Just wing it on Tax Day! On April 18, Hooters is offering three 1040EZ Meal Deals. For $10.40, enjoy four tenders and fries; eight boneless wings and fries; or six bone-in wings and fries. Plus, enjoy $2 draft pints of Blue Moon and $4 off Long Island Iced Teas. 

Krispy Kreme:  On Tax Day, April 18, Krispy Kreme customers who purchase an assorted or Original Glazed dozen doughnuts at regular price will only pay the sales tax on a second Original Glazed dozen at participating locations. 

Office Depot and Office Max: Get shredded for tax season! Everyone knows the importance of shredding personal and financial documents to prevent identity theft or fraud. Thanks to Office Depot and OfficeMAX, shred up to 5 pounds of documents for FREE — through April 29.

Regal Cinemas: Taxes are done and now it’s time to enjoy a little fun. Every Tuesday, Regal Cinemas offers discounted tickets (starting at $5) and 50% off popcorn. The offers are only available to Regal Crown Club members. 

Round Table Pizza: Save a little extra dough on Tax Day! Round Table Pizza is offering its Pizza Royal Rewards members $10 off any two large or XL pizzas at regular menu price — from April 15 to 18. There are nearly 500 locations in 10 states. 

Sonic: Half price shakes and ice cream slushes after 8 p.m.
